I loved inventing characters here in The Glory of Love like George and Jimmy the Machine and Freddy then adding Joey and then, of course, Elvis. The song is autobiographical in many ways then accumulating others on the way. The outro is pretty much the affirmation of what's been said before 'What a Glory' ! There's a lot of guitar on the song having to be carefully balanced together with string, bell, vocals, synth, bass, percussion and beat - which took some time!
lyrics
Well once upon a time there was a boy without a Mom
On a lonely meadow and he just wanted to dance
If only George and Jimmy the Machine
Could have dried his tears
Yea his name was Joe he had nowhere to go
Until he heard the sound of Elvis Presley
Singing 'The Wonder of You'
And he's never coming home again
Go ahead Joey
Sing sing sing for the glory of love
As sure as nights turn to days
Sure about the power and the glory of love
And never let it fade away
Time and tide and the feelings inside
And all the things we do are passing quickly
Again and again
If only George and Jimmy the Machine
Could have slowed her down
Yea and time and tide and the feelings inside
And all the things I've seen
Are not my allies, they're not my best friends
And I'm never coming home again
Come on Freddie
So I'll sing sing sing for the glory of love
As sure as nights turn to days
Sure about the power and the glory of love
I'll never let it fade away
That's what I'm talking about man, the glory of love
That's what it is, that's Joey, Elvis,
That's what I'm talking about man
It's a glory, what a glory
